Why doesn't Aikido Academy of Nebraska charge an enrollment fee?

We do not find it to be important to charge our students fees until they have no money left in their pockets. Training is our true focus.

Who is O Sensei?

O Sensei is the founder of Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba. O Sensei is quite literally a title meaning "Great Teacher"

What is a Kamiza?

A small shrine, especially in an aikido, generally located the the front of the dojo, and often housing a picture of the founder, or some calligraphy.

Here at Aikido Academy of Nebraska, you will not find a Kamiza.  Sensei is of the belief, that religion is a personal choice and worshiping of a shrine in a Dojo is not appropriate in his school.

When is it appropriate to address the instructor as hey, you, or buddy?

Never!  The instructor must always be addressed as Sensei or Paden Sensei.  Any other name is not appropriate and even Sensei Roy or Sensei Paden is considered disrespectful.

It is like the notation of MD after a doctors name...Like:  Mike Smith M.D. You would pronounce it "Mike Smith 'M.D.' "
